The Beginning of the End

So... I graduated high school alongside my best friends on May 20, but it wasn't long before we packed up our bags to leave town. A few of us planned an EPIC, senior road trip as our first hoorah to celebrate graduation and jump into our last summer together before we leave for separate colleges across the nation.
Moab:
Day 1:
To begin our trip, we drove to Moab, UT, where we camped at the Sand Flats Recreation Area for the next few days - we even extended our stay in Moab because we were having so much fun! Our original plan was to camp at Big Bend (along the river), but none of the campsites were available, so we had to quickly decide where to set up our tent before nightfall.
Day 2:
We spent our first full day in Moab hiking at Arches National Park. We tried to conquer as many as we could before we had to return to camp for dinner! Back at camp, we hung out by the fire and sang campfire songs. We even met a new friend, Aidan.
Day 3:
For our final day in Moab, we spent mid-morning hiking Islands in the Sky at Canyonlands National Park. We visited Mesa Arch and White Rim Viewpoint, before proceeding to Grand View Point. After our day at Canyonlands, we went back to Arches National Park to hike to Delicate Arch for sunset - Aidan, our new friend from the campsite next to us, decided to join.
Lake Powell:
Day 1:
The next morning, we drove from Moab to Hannah's cabin near Lake Powell. When we got to the house, we went for a jeep ride and a short hike before sunset.
Day 2:
Lake Powell! We had a relaxing morning painting rocks that represented our trip thus far. Then, we drove out to the lake to spend the day hiking in the slot canyons and swimming in the refreshing water. We swam out to a large rock, where we climbed up, did yoga, tanned, and jumped off when we were ready to enjoy the water once again. When we got back to Hannah's house that night, we met her cousins and played games while stargazing.
Vail:
Day 1:
Bummer! Our plan was to stop in Telluride on the way back from Lake Powell, but it the forecast only called for heavy rain. Instead, we decided to drive to my boss's condo in Vail in order to break up the drive time back to our hometown of Evergreen. While driving to Vail, we stopped in Glennwood Springs to swim at the natural hot springs. Then, we continued onto Vail, where we spent the night.
Day 2:
Upon waking up, we felt the exhaustion kick in from our amazing trip. We left Vail almost immediately to head home. It was a great experience to travel with such close friends, but it was also good to return home to our families and catch up on sleep!
